Stephen Maguire reached the final of The China Open

By Sunday Express reporter

STEPHEN MAGUIRE will attempt to end a four-year wait for a snooker ranking title in Beijing today.

The world No9 beat in-form Stephen Lee 6-2 to reach the final of the ?400,000 China Open and will take on 2002 world champion Peter Ebdon.

The 31-year-old Scot saw an early 2-0 lead disappear as the world No11 from Trowbridge found some of the form that brought him the Players Tour Championship title last month.

But the ?Milton Magician? never looked back after the interval to run out a convincing winner.

Maguire, whose last tournament win was in this event in 2008, said: ?Winning matches gives you confidence.

?I seem to play pretty well over here and it is setting me up for the World Championships.?

Ebdon, 41, beat the local favourite Ding Junhui 6-3 in the second semi-final yesterday.
