Charleston Southern at Gardner-Webb

Records: CSU 10-6, 4-2 Big South; Gardner-Webb 8-9, 3-2

Notes: CSU dropped an 80-77 overtime decision to Coastal Carolina on Saturday, its first home loss of the season?CSU overcame a six-point deficit in the final minute of regulation to force OT?Freshman guard Arlon Harper scored 23 points, connecting on five 3-pointers, in the loss?Gardner-Webb is coming off a 65-61 win over High Point, a team CSU lost to last week?Bulldogs are 5-1 at home this season?GWU has lost games to Clemson, Indiana and Butler?CSU has five players averaging in double figures, led by senior small forward Kelvin Martin?s 14.4 points per game?Martin also leads the Big South Conference in rebounding, pulling down 9.2 boards per game?Junior guard Jeremy Sexton has averaged 13 points per game over the last three games, all off the bench.


Vanderbilt at South Carolina

Records: Vanderbilt 11-4, 1-0 SEC; South Carolina 8-7, 1-1

Notes: The Gamecocks lost their Southeastern Conference opener Saturday at second-ranked Kentucky. Vanderbilt also opened league play Saturday, but against a much less challenging opponent, Auburn, which the Commodores beat 65-35. Vanderbilt has losses this season to Louisville and Xavier ? then Nos. 6 and 12, respectively ? but also to Cleveland State and Indiana State. USC was 11-21 in the SEC the past two years, but 1-1 in each of those years against Vanderbilt ? a win in Columbia last year and in Nashville the previous season.
